In September 1997, a serving head of state says he stepped into a glowing corridor of light from his Moscow apartment and found himself aboard a vast craft, surrounded by beings who looked almost human, dressed in yellow, communicating not with words but with thought.
He insists he was not abducted.
He was invited.
The man making this claim is Kirsan Ilyumzinov, former President of Kalmykia and long-time head of the World Chess Federation. A figure who moved in the circles of presidents, prime ministers and global power brokers. A man who discussed policy with Vladimir Putin and conversed with figures such as Henry Kissinger. Not a fringe mystic shouting from the sidelines, but someone embedded in geopolitical reality.
And yet, his story belongs in the realm of the extraordinary.
A Late Night in Moscow
He recalls returning home around 10pm, switching off the television, and sensing something unusual. From the open window of his top-floor flat, a translucent, glowing tube appeared.
Curiosity won over fear.
He stepped into the light.
What followed, according to his detailed account, was an encounter inside an immense interior space, “like several football fields”, where tall beings in yellow garments moved about their tasks. He describes thin air that became breathable after a simple gesture to his chest. A faint scent of forest or sea. A feeling of calm.
No panic. No chaos.
Just presence.
Through telepathic exchange, he says the beings told him humanity was not yet ready for open contact. They compared humans to ants, evolving, intelligent in their own way, but not yet mature enough for full dialogue. They spoke of our violence, our wars, our environmental destruction.
In short, our adolescence as a civilisation.
The Missing Hour
The most unsettling element is not what he describes in space, but what allegedly happened on Earth.
When colleagues arrived the next morning to take him to the airport, he was nowhere to be found. His slippers and phones remained in place. The apartment was searched repeatedly. Security footage showed no exit.
Then, after more than an hour, he calmly emerged from a bedroom that had already been checked multiple times.
He reportedly laughed and said, “Aliens took me.”
His chief of staff, who had worked with him for decades, publicly confirmed the disappearance and reappearance.
Whether one interprets this as physical transportation, altered states of consciousness, or something beyond current understanding, the witnesses add a layer that pushes the story beyond a simple dream narrative.
Conversations in the Corridors of Power
What makes this account ripple further is the claim that world leaders are not ignorant of the phenomenon.
Ilyumzinov has stated that he discussed UFOs with global figures, including Mikhail Gorbachev and Henry Kissinger. He recounts an anecdote about a confidential folder allegedly shown between US and Soviet leadership during the Cold War, after which lunar programmes were abruptly curtailed.
He also suggests that leaders such as Donald Trump, Xi Jinping and Putin would inevitably be briefed on extraterrestrial matters as part of their national security responsibilities.
True or not, this taps into a deeper intuition many hold, that disclosure, if real, would not begin with the public. It would begin behind closed doors.
Chess, DNA and Cosmic Codes
Interestingly, his narrative does not centre on fear or invasion. It centres on evolution.
As a lifelong advocate for chess, he sees symbolic meaning in the 64 squares of the board, mirroring the 64 codons of human DNA. Black and white, light and shadow, opposition and balance. For him, chess is not just a game but a cosmic teaching device, perhaps even a gift from elsewhere.
It is a striking metaphor.
Humanity as a player in a multidimensional game, learning to anticipate moves, to think ahead, to transcend reaction and embrace strategy.
If extraterrestrial intelligence exists, perhaps the real test is not technological readiness but moral maturity.
Underground Civilisations and Expanding Reality
He goes further still, speaking of subterranean worlds, underwater craft, and hidden research programmes. He suggests that intelligence may not be confined to biological bodies but could manifest as energy, as consciousness, as forms we have not yet categorised.
Here, the narrative intersects with ancient myth, esoteric traditions and modern quantum speculation.
It becomes less about little green men and more about the architecture of reality itself.
Sincere Belief or Strategic Myth
Three possibilities are offered here:
- A literal physical encounter with non-human intelligence
- A profound altered state experience with deep psychological or spiritual significance
- A symbolic narrative reflecting metaphysical truths rather than material events
Each interpretation reveals something about our current threshold of belief.
When a farmer makes such a claim, it is dismissed. When a former president does, it unsettles. Power changes the gravity of testimony.
And yet, the deeper question may not be whether the spacecraft existed.
It may be whether humanity is ready to evolve.
If contact requires us to transcend violence, tribalism and ecological self-destruction, then the story becomes less about aliens and more about responsibility.
Perhaps disclosure is not an event imposed from above.
Perhaps it is a state of consciousness we grow into.
